Be Still My (Broken) Heart Cocktail

A sweet Valentine gin cocktail that combines the flavour of quince, rosewater and strawberry soda

Make this perfect for Valentine’s Day easy gin cocktail recipe that uses quince gin, rose water and strawberry soda.

Soothe any broken hearts with this concoction! Using the Ramos Gin fizz as the inspiration, this uses the beautiful Quince Gin from Broken Heart Spirits. Developed in New Zealand by two Germans who were good friends, the death of one during the formulation of their flagship gin led the other to release the gin in his memory, with the name a reference to the broken hearts he left in the wake of his death. The quince gin is a variation on the flagship gin, and released in 2017. With a hint of sweetness and tartness coming from the quince which is pressed and macerated in the gin, it combined well with a few drops of rosewater and strawberry soda to make it a very light and floral sipper, which we wager won't last long. The strawberry soda we used was a seasonal one from English soda makers Square Root London that we happened to bring back with us on a recent trip but you can easily sub it out with some muddled fresh strawberries and normal soda.
