Cherry Chocolate Cocktail
Sip on this cherry chocolate cocktail made with new make whisky, Cherry Heering and chocolate liqueur. Tastes like dark chocolate mousse in liquid form.
Instead of dessert wine or port, try out this dark decadent cocktail, that is perfect for sipping at the end of a meal. It's a great use of "new make" whisky (also known as white dog in some circles) aka the unaged whisky liquid before it goes into the barrel for aging. The yeasty notes of the new make contrasted well with the rich cherry liqueur and slightly sour dark chocolate liqueur. We used Redlands Distillery (now Old Kempton Distillery) New Malt, who are one of the few distilleries in Australia who grow their own barley for use in whisky making. The Distillery Botanica Koko Noir was also a good match - it's not overly sweet for a liqueur and still retains very much of the dark cacao nib flavour.
This is such a simple cocktail - equal parts of everything means you cannot go wrong.
