A bar MAP for the cocktail and spirits enthusiast

Best Bars in Sydney

It all started when…

I received an email from a cocktail enthusiast from San Francisco, who was visiting Sydney for the first time. We didn’t know each other personally, although he had been following our adventures on social media for a while and thought I could recommend a bar or two, seeing as I live in Sydney. I replied, giving him a number of bars to visit and grouped it into the areas the bars were in, partly because I didn’t know where he would be staying.

Since then, I’ve received more messages and emails from fellow cocktail enthusiasts seeking bar recommendations for either themselves, or their friends visiting Sydney. I’ve even taken some on a tour if I’m in town. When replying with my suggestions, I continue to group the bars according to their general location. This is mainly because it’s the first thing I do when I visit a new city - I’ll often make a list of the bars I want to visit and then map them out so I can see which ones are close to one another. Believe me, it saves a lot of zig zagging across town when you have limited time and trying to fit in as many cool bars as possible. Now, I thought it high time I put this all on a map and here it is! Whether you are a Sydneysider or just visiting, here’s my list of the best bars to visit in Sydney for the cocktail and spirits enthusiast, handily condensed into a map. I should point out that this is NOT an exhaustive list of every bar in Sydney - it’s a guide to the ones I’d recommend; after all, when you ask a friend where to go, they’d hardly give you a list of the places they DON’T recommend right?

The map will be a work in progress - I’ll update it as new places pop up that make the cut and will slowly add to it to cover the bars outside of the Sydney city centre. In the meantime, if you are in town, I hope this map will help you navigate the best of Sydney’s cocktail scene. Who knows, you might even bump into me in my favourite spot: seated at the bar.
