Chocolate Americano cocktail
The Americano cocktail is a classic for a reason. Said to have originated in the Campari bar in Milan in the 1860s, it is a refreshing long drink that marries the bitterness of Campari and the sweetness of vermouth. Sub out the soda water with gin and you get the Negroni!
This version uses a chocolate infused Campari, which despite the name, isn’t a sickly sweet liqueur concoction. Rather than chocolate, the Campari is infused with cacao nibs, which is not sweet at all, but it has the unmistakably chocolate flavour and tempers the bitterness of the Campari. It’s great as an aperitif and you can still taste the bitter undertones of the Campari.
