Christmas Gin Espresso Martini
This recipe came from Philip Moore, the owner distiller of Distillery Botanica and maker of the festive We Three Kings Christmas Gin. Philip first started making the Christmas Gin in 2018. So named after the biblical three wise men, who visited Jesus after his birth bearing gifts of gold, frankinsense and myrhh, the gin also utilises those three things. The frankinsense and myrhh gives a warming touch to the gin, which has also been infused with Philip’s homemade Christmas plum pudding. All these flavours combine with the coffee to create a real luxe version of the regular espresso martini. As Philip also makes Mr Black coffee liqueur at his distillery, this is a one stop (easy to) shop (for) cocktail!
How to make a Christmas Gin Espresso Martini
Ingredients
30ml Distillery Botanica We Three Kings Christmas Gin
30ml Mr Black Coffee Liqueur
30ml espresso
5ml muscovado sugar syrup*
Orange zest
*To make the muscovado sugar syrup, dissolve two parts sugar in one part water
Instructions
Pour all ingredients into shaker and fill with ice
Shake vigorously (or as Philip says, shake it 60 times!)
Strain into a chilled glass
Squeeze orange zest over glass. Garnish with either the zest or dehydrated orange
