Mexicano Cocktail
Give tequila another chance in this martini style cocktail
Ah, tequila, the spirit that most people associate with bad hangovers and late night shots after a few too many drinks. But when you have a good tequila, it can make for a cocktail worthy of sipping like you would any good whisky old fashioned. Again inspired by the 50/50 martini, we combined the Tequila Tromba Blanco with Cocchi Americano in equal parts - the aromatic and floral Cocchi actually complemented the salty grassy notes of the tequila. Paired with an aged pecorino cheese for our Bartender vs Sommelier event, this was a marriage made in heaven - the salty sharpness of the cheese went down really well with the cocktail and in fact, if you take one sip of the cocktail and then one bite of cheese, the cocktail doesn’t taste quite so sweet on the next sip. If you are having a dinner party, this is a good one to serve with the cheese board and is one you can make up beforehand (just multiply the ingredients by however many covers you are looking to make).
